1. 十字架的道路是獻祭，
要將一切獻於神，
將一切放在死的祭壇上面，
火定然由天降下。

何等容易“獻所有！”
但前面有更沉重的十字架！
呼召之路更艱難！

一切都釘在十架？
直等到永活主生命的豐盛，

聖經舊約中上帝吩咐百姓的“獻祭”正是敬拜中主要的部份。“犧牲”是祭壇上那已死的動物。 聖詩作者說：死在十架上正是生命得勝的祕訣。先有死，後有生，是永活主的豐盛生命活在我們裡面。
在這裡，十架不是人生苦難的代表，卻是天父旨意的等義詞。“獻所有”的熱誠容易有，回應神的呼召、心意之後的順服之路卻很艱苦。
如祭物般順服地死在祭壇，是敬拜，是願主旨意成就在己身，好似成就在天上。從此，對著世界是死的，對著基督卻是活的。因為與主的合一，活著的時候就是基督，死了就有益處。
麥斯威爾姊妹的聖詩呼應著《羅馬書》12：1使徒保羅的勸勉：
“所以弟兄們，我以神的慈悲勸你們，將身體獻上，當作活祭，是聖潔的，是神所喜悅的；你們如此事奉乃是理所當然的。”（新譯：這是屬靈的敬拜）
